Gran Canaria: the destination for naturists
Across Gran Canaria, the motto is 'freedom and happiness', making it the best place for naturism among all the Canary Islands. Whether sunbathing naked on the rooftop, by the pool, or at the well-known naturist beaches, naturism is essentially permitted everywhere. Thanks to its favorable location in the Atlantic Ocean, the sea currents, and the predominantly northern winds, the temperature in Gran Canaria is always pleasant, allowing you to enjoy your vacation in the nude all year round.
The emergence of naturism in Spain
Naturism in Spain initially began in the 1930s but was soon restricted by the Spanish dictator Franco. After his death, naturism continued to develop, and from 1978 onwards, naturism was no longer illegal and was essentially allowed everywhere. As a result, Spain has been a beloved wintering spot for years, where naturists, especially on the Canary Islands, have many opportunities for nude recreation.
Nude recreation on the beach allowed
Naturism is permitted across the entire island, so in principle, nude recreation is possible on any beach in Gran Canaria. This also applies to the beach within walking distance of Resort Petit Natura. From our resort, our own shuttle bus goes several times a day to the nude beach of Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas, one of the most famous beaches among naturists. The beach runs along the well-known dune area of 'Dunas de Maspalomas' and is the largest naturist area in the world. The beach is 320 hectares large and no less than 7 kilometers long, so there's a quiet spot for every naturist. At Beach kiosk 4 (nude section), you'll also find plenty of sunbeds and parasols.
